Toot Toot Beep Beep

Today’s summer storytime was about SUPER Cars!

What We Read:

Famous Cars by Melissa Abramovitz

This is a fun, informative book that would be great for older kids. Unfortunately, the preschoolers weren’t familiar with any of the famous cars. Except Lightning McQueen. They LOVED Lightning McQueen. But it would be a great read for elementary aged kids!

Toot Toot Beep Beep by Emma Garcia

This is a cute, simple book that is pretty much always a hit. The kids loved imitating the different car sounds, pointing out the different kinds and colors of cars (a yellow taxi! a pink limousine!), and asking unanswerable questions like, “Why are there no people in the cars?”

What We Said:

“My Hands”

“Touch Your Nose”

What We Did:

We danced again! This week it was to “The Goldfish” by The Laurie Berkner Band, “Freeze Dance” by The Fresh Beats Band, and “Silly Dance Contest” and “Jumping and Counting” by Jim Gill.

What We Made:

We made a train! Using a really nice template from Learn Create Love, we did a group project. I colored the engine and the caboose, and each of the kids picked out one of the two train cars to color and decorate with stickers. I cut everything out later in the day, taped everything together, and connected them in a long line. Then I displayed them on one of our bulletin boards!

Next Week:

SUPER Animals!
